Countries are categorised into one of four "zones", which impacts the price for your medical insurance. You should select the zone which best represents your "main" country of residence, and the address you enter on the application form needs to be within the same zone as you have selected for the pricing.

Please note that these zones only relate to the pricing for your medical insurance. All policies, regardless of which zone your main residence is in, provide cover everywhere on the planet except the USA.

The zones are as follows:

Area 0: United States of America
No cover is available for the USA. Please note that this applies only to the actual 50 states of the USA - overseas territories such as Guam, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico etc are covered, and are categorised as "Area 2: Rest of the World". If you are a US citizen or resident and would like your USA address to be used, this is fine, and will be priced in line with Area 2.

Area 1: Europe

Covers all the countries most people would consider to be in Europe - please note that Turkey is included here, and Russia is not included here. For the full list of countries included in "Area 1: Europe", please click here.

Area 2: Rest of the World

Covers all countries and territories which are not included in Area 0/1/3. For the full list of countries included in "Area 2: Rest of the World", please click here.

Area 3: China, Hong Kong, Japan, or Singapore

Covers only these four countries and/or territories listed.

If you have multiple addresses and/or residencies, you may choose which one to use, and it is fine for you to choose a lower-cost Area - as long as you genuinely have a connection to the address you are giving on your insurance documents. Area 1 is the lowest price, and Area 3 is the highest price.

If you are travelling and do not have a permanent home, you may use the address of where you currently are when you are applying for the insurance (including a hotel/AirBnB etc), and/or you may use an address to which you have a strong connection (i.e. the address of family or friends)
